Cisco
Networking I
Prerequisites:
Geometry, computer skills and knowledge (Grade
11). This class is the first in the series
of two full-year classes necessary to become
certified through Cisco Systems. The class
covers network basics through an online
curriculum and evaluation set up by Cisco. The
curriculum is the same one used by Cisco classes
around the world. A required laboratory section
includes network cabling, computer
configuration, router configuration, hardware
installation, and operating system installation.
Students also have the opportunity to learn
basic Unix administration, web server skills and
programming.
Cisco
Networking II
Prerequisite:
Cisco Networking I. This class is
the second in the series of two full-year
classes necessary to become certified through
Cisco Systems. The online format is the same as
the first year of Cisco Networking. Some of the
topics covered in the second year include
advanced router configuration, firewalls,
virtual private networks, and access list. At
the successful conclusion of this class the
option of sitting for the Cisco Certified
Network Associate (CCNA) exam is available to
the student. Two other levels of certification (CCNP
and CCIE) are available for the advanced student
that would like to pursue Cisco studies at the
college level.
