CHECK US OUT: High School

Youth Group Leaders

Youth Group Leaders is a mentoring program for eighth grade students sponsored by an outreach program from the Marquette County Sheriff's Department.  A small group of sophomores and juniors are selected to be mentors for a mixed group of eighth graders.  They meet every other week for a lunch period.  It is a drug prevention program as well as an opportunity for eighth graders to  know some high school students when they become freshmen.  We encourage all students to take a leadership role for the betterment of the school and the community.  Different opportunities to do so present themselves each year.  There are also three off campus activities:  an Upper Peninsula wide Youth Conference at Northern Michigan University, a winter break recreation day, and a spring break day at the P.E.I.F. building on N.M.U.'s campus.
