Ishpeming Parent Network
“Linking Parents Makes Healthier Kids”
”Why form a Parent Network?”
A parent network is a way of organizing parents to support each other in their roles as effective parents and communicators with their children. Creating a Parent Network is an opportunity to:
-
Set common codes of conduct and standards for our children.
-
Share parenting strategies and learn about important youth issues.
-
Reduce the use of alcohol and drugs by youth and help them decrease risky behaviors.
We believe:
-
Children/youth develop to their full potential in an environment free of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.
-
Appropriate limits, guidelines, and expectations are important for the healthy development of children.
-
Our children/youth are entitled to an emotionally non-violent and encouraging atmosphere that is conductive to learning and maturing.
Our Guidelines:
-
To encourage and sponsor wholesome activities for our children by actively chaperoning.
-
To communicate with the appropriate adults that events outside our homes will be properly chaperoned.
-
To be aware of the influences available to our children via the internet, television, and videos.
-
To serve as positive role models.
-
