The Ishpeming School District will be accepting new non-resident applications.  Applications are available January 8 through January 19, 2018, in any of our school offices or by the link above.

 Please carefully consider the following items:

  • The student must reside in Marquette County or Alger County.
  • Participation in athletics may be limited by the MHSAA transfer rule.
  • Students expelled from another school will be admitted only with the written authorization of the Superintendent.

The Ishpeming High School was ranked #131 in the State of Michigan, #7 in the Upper Peninsula, #2 in Marquette County by U.S. News and World Report, “Best High Schools 2017” rankings report.

The Michigan Department of Education identified the Ishpeming Middle School as one of 347 “Reward” schools of the 4,247 schools in Michigan for 2013-2014.

Unique features of our schools include: Birchview Elementary has a strong reading curriculum, a new mathematics foundations program, and special classes to include computers, art, gym and additional library reading time. Our Ishpeming Middle School has a unique humanities block with English and Social Studies, advanced placement for 8th grade mathematics and specials to include chorus, gym, computers, and band. Our Ishpeming High School has a variety of advanced classes which include English 111 and Pre-Calculus with Northern Michigan University, Advanced Biology, and Advanced Chemistry. New, as of the 2017-18 school year, we also offer a Computer Coding class. Our CTE courses include Geometry/Construction, Health Occupations, and Business Communication. In addition we offer a wide range of extracurricular activities at all levels. The Standard and Poors rating service also rates Ishpeming students as among the highest performing in the state.
