Hematites have great showing in playoffs

Hematite fans were treated to a great football game Friday evening, November 1st. The cold conditions did not hinder the action -- as would be expected from teams well accustomed to cool Michigan temperatures. The actual temperature was in the mid twenties with a wind-chill in the teens.

The Hematites played an excellent game. As the underdog Ishpeming had nothing to loose and everything to gain. This showed in their gutsy play, which put them in the lead immediately with a score from Ryan Martinac. Followed shortly by a score on a long run by Mike Paquette, putting the Hematites up by 12. With one score by Negaunee it was 12-6, Hematites at the half.

The score remained 12-6 until late in the fourth quarter. When a score by Don Barr of Negaunee and a successful conversion took the score to 14-12, Negaunee. This was the final score. Ishpeming struggled to try and score in the remaining time. However, a turn-over finished off the last scoring drive by the Hematites.

The Ishpeming Hematites played an excellent game. Congratulations on a great season Hematites!
