Ishpeming Parent Network

"Linking Parents Makes Healthier Kids"

Why form a Network?

A Parent Network is a way of organizing parents to support each other in in their roles as effective parents and communicators with their children.  Creating a Parent Network is an opportunity to:

  • Set common codes of conduct and standards for our children.

  • Share parenting strategies and learn about important youth issues.

  • Reduce the use of alcohol and drugs by youth and help them decrease risky behaviors.

We believe:

  • Children/youth develop to their full potential in an environment free of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.

  • Appropriate limits, guidelines, and expectations are important for the the healthy development of our children.

  • Our children/youth are entitled to an emotionally non-violent and encouraging atmosphere that is conductive to learning and maturing.

Our guidelines:

  • To encourage and sponsor wholesome activities for our children by actively chaperoning.

  • To communicate with the appropriate adults that events outside our homes will be properly chaperoned.

  • To be aware of the influences available to our children via the internet, television, and videos.

  • To support and use the following curfews as general guidelines:

  Weekday Weekend
Fifth Grade N/A 9:00 pm
Sixth Grade N/A 9:00 pm
Seventh Grade N/A 10:00 pm
Eighth Grade N/A 10:00 pm
