Let's Go HEMATITES!

The Ishpeming Public School District is a small district located in the heart of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.  Our current student population grades K-12 is over 700.  The district consists of one elementary school, a middle school and a high school.  Our highly dedicated staff takes pride in offering a challenging curriculum in an environment conducive to learning.

The people of Ishpeming have always desired a quality education for their children.  In 1868, a year before Ishpeming was incorporated as a village, a charter to form a school district was granted.  This support for education in our community has continued into a second century of excellence.  The ongoing mission of our district is to prepare all students to be self-motivated, responsible, and productive citizens in a rapidly changing world.
